My Husband and the Monster: Editorial Illustration
for DATUM Magazine

Created for DATUM Magazine, this editorial illustration accompanies a feature on life with a partner affected by alcohol addiction. The project uses metaphor-driven imagery to explore co-dependency, emotional endurance, and the unseen cost of staying close.

At the heart of the story is a presence with no body, yet it fills the room. Addiction becomes a silent third figure — reshaping love, routine, and identity, and blurring the line between care and self-preservation. Visually, the tension takes shape through shadow and restraint. Muted color, stark contrast, and confined space translate emotional pressure and isolation, turning an invisible struggle into a tangible image.
